“Great chops & fierce tones mean he’s a future blues torchbearer without a doubt” - Guitarist Fretbuzz
The future of Great British guitar music is paved with 24-carat-gold, as young Scott McKeon’s stunning new album, ‘Trouble’ (released 5 April on Mascot Provogue records), showcases a world-class master, who’s command of his instrument is nothing short of genius. McKeon’s grippingly unique blend of rock/electric-blues, has been wowing audiences world wide, but with this outstanding collection of twelve tracks, ‘Trouble’, is guaranteed to place this young phenomenon alongside the greatest guitarists in the business.
At just 23-years-of-age, this young talent from the small coastal town of Wimbourne, is rapidly gaining critical acclaim as one of the most gifted and naturally talented guitarist/singer-songwriters on the UK rock/blues scene. Scott McKeon has the ability of fusing generations of blues, with classic electric-guitar rock, to create a sound that’s distinctly contemporary. ‘Trouble’, is a gobsmacking collection of ten originally penned tracks, all of which demonstrate McKeon’s engaging soulful vocals embedded within powerful, dominant rocky guitar riffs akin to the likes of the almighty Lenny Kravitz and Eric Clapton. From the enticing narrative of tracks such as, ‘I Can Tell’ and ‘Trouble’, through to the mellow smoothness of the cover, ‘Talk To Me’ and raw raunchy vibe of, ‘Broken Man’, plus contributions from Robbie McIntosh and David Ryan Harris from John Mayer’s Band, this album delivers all the elements of a timeless classic.
Like all musical prodigies, the story of Scott McKeon begins before he had even started school. Picking up his first guitar at the tender age of just 4-years, the young McKeon was instantly transfixed by the instrument that he was later to master and by the age of seven, had made his debut on UK national TV. In 1998 he was crowned Guitarist Magazine’s ‘Young Musician of the Year’ and is currently rated the 27th best blues guitar player in the world on Google.
The unique Scott McKeon sound has even filtered through to mass consumer audiences including the Impulse viral ad, Guitar Hero 5 and the soundtrack for TV show LA Task Force. Added to which, McKeon’s work on the Rock Prophecies soundtrack received a Rhode Island International Film Festival ‘Best Soundtrack’ Award.
But it’s the raw energy of Scott McKeon as a live performer that has sent global audiences into glorious delirium. Sharing performance space with the likes of Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Johnny Winter and Derek Trucks to name just a few, justifies McKeon as one of the countries most promising musicians. In 2008, Scott opened for Eric Clapton, John Mayer and Sheryl Crow at the prestigious Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park, as well as opening for Joe Bonamassa at the Royal Albert Hall.
Now for 2010, the almighty Scott McKeon takes a monumental step closer to musical immortality, as, ‘Trouble’, exposes the sheer unparalleled talent of this master craftsman. Blasting guitar blues into inconceivable dimensions, ‘Trouble’, is an album that is sure to take a very firm standing amongst the greatest guitar albums of all time.
The album, ‘Trouble’ is released on 5 April on Mascot Provogue Records
