Welcome Back! Happy New Year From the Team at Fifth Element!

2017 was an incredible year for us here at Fifth Element. We saw a number of incredible releases from our artists and were able to attend some fabulous events. 2017 saw albums released by our fabulous artists Sam Way, JoAnna Lee and The Hallows. Plenty of single releases took 2017 by storm including Rothwell’s ‘Freedom’ and AKA George’s smash hit ‘Stone Cold Classic’ which featured on Spotify’s ‘Rocked’ playlist. We’ve been inspired by attending incredible events this past year such as The Women in Music Awards and the BBC Introducing Amplify sessions at the Excel London. We already have so much to look forward to in 2018 from working with the legend that is Ray J to getting ourselves ready for festival season.

Of course, no one was surprised by the winner of Christmas number one. It seemed everywhere you went, everything you listened to and everything you read in 2017 featured Ed Sheeran in some capacity.  Ed Sheeran and Beyonce is a collaboration that on paper was always going to do incredibly well. You just have to look at the overwhelming number of streams both artists achieved in 2017 to realise that the Christmas number one was always going to be theirs. The single that eventually clinched it was the heartwarmingly beautiful love song ‘Perfect’. Ed Sheeran’s amazing feat didn’t stop there. He also managed to secure himself the Christmas number two slot with a collaboration with Eminem. Third place was the now even more meaningful and nostalgic Wham Christmas classic Last Christmas. This chart position was a very touching tribute to the late George Michael who tragically passed away on Christmas day 2016.

Festival lineups for the summer are already shaping up to rival last years amazing festival season. Coachella has announced that Beyonce is headlining as well as The Weekend and Eminem. Beyonce is confirmed to take to the main stage at Coachella this year after speculations of her headlining in 2017 turned out to be false. If you’re not lucky enough to be jetting off to Coachella, there are plenty of U.K and european festivals that will guarantee you just as much of a good time! The lineup for Download Festival 2018 features legends such as Guns and Roses and Ozzy Osbourne. If Rock and Metal isn’t really your seen there are plenty of other British festivals to look forward to in the form of Reading and Leeds, Bestival, Glastonbury and the eagerly awaited re-boot of V Festival.

So here’s to 2018. The team here at Fifth Element wish you a year full of success and fun. Go out and take 2018 by storm!
