Sam Way Returns to Haunt Us This Halloween

Sam Way Returns to Haunt Us This Halloween

Sam Way is about to release his most idiosyncratic work to date, and topically given the title, just in time for Halloween. ‘Vampire appetite’ is so surprisingly catchy you could almost call it haunting. A frankly ghostly introduction quickly gives way to moody, dark and playful, electronic affair, as rich in cellos as it in dirty trap beats. Produced by the team @cafemusicstudios in east London (Jon Hopkins, Imogen Heap) the song sees Way’s lyricism take a welcomed break of pace as he wraps his tongue around the topic of a seemingly monstrous lust.

‘Vampire appetite’ comes just a few months after the release of ‘Hard Feelings’Sam’s most successful release to date (Track of the day in Clash Magazine) and with it’s timely release on the cusp of Halloween we see a lighter, fun, boisterous take on the songwriters relationships to the persuasions of desire.

Lyrically the song rewards repeat listens. Let Way’s words echo within and soon the struggle to give into desire, to hunger in all senses of the word as it may be, or to find the strength to hold out, starts to feel very real, to the point even where it could reflect a darker shade. However, Way’s laughter, kept in the on final production of the track at the end, reminds us to not take it too seriously after all. Especially perhaps, this coming Halloween.

With all things considered, with Way’s relentless approach to releasing music of this quality and depth, an honest conviction to his craft, vocals imbued with sentiment and emotion, an ever growing fanbase across the world, and with more exiting musical prospects (currently secret) due around Christmas time, there’s plenty here to get your teeth into.

Vampire Appetite is the 2nd of 3 singles to be released through indie label Animal Farm.
