Sugar Candy Mountain live at The Victoria!
That’s right - the stars of indie dream pop popped over from California for a hazy set in Dalston a few weeks ago - and we were there!
Sugar Candy Mountain wowed the world of dream pop a few years ago with their album ‘666’ - a hazy, psychedelia-tinged mix of songs seemingly straight from the West Coast in the 60s.
Their set at The Victoria in Dalston is, alas, very short. Travel problems mean that the band can only play for 45 minutes, but they take to the stage in their everyday clothes like professionals - but without any sort of fanfare or pizzazz.
It’s a shame, because we’ve all been waiting for them for a while now, but it’s worth the wait as they take us through a short list of their hits. ‘Windows’ and ‘666’ are of course the highlights, but with a set this short it’s actually very hard to get into the swing of it and, before it’s really begun, it’s over.
A real shame from such a great band. The support act played for as long as they did!
